Gate City is the seat of Scott County, sitting along the North Fork of the Holston River where the valley narrows between Clinch Mountain and the Tennessee state line just south of Kingsport. The town’s compact downtown still centers on the historic courthouse, and the surrounding county is known for some of the most distinctive landscapes in Southwest Virginia. The nearby Mendota Trail follows an old rail line along the Holston, and just up the river in Hiltons, the Carter Family Fold hosts weekly Saturday-night Appalachian music shows at the original homestead of A.P., Sara, and Maybelle Carter, a living link to the roots of country music.

From Gate City, the drive to our Lebanon offices runs about an hour and fifteen minutes by way of US-58 east through Hiltons, Mendota, and Abingdon, then north into Russell County. Gate City and Scott County clients come to us for outpatient counseling, EMDR therapy for adults, teens, and children ages 7 and older, and psychiatric medication management with our nurse practitioner at the East Main Office. For adults whose depression has not responded to standard antidepressants, we also offer GeneSight® pharmacogenomic testing and Spravato® (esketamine) on-site in Lebanon.

We recognize that a seventy-five-minute drive each way is a real obstacle to consistent care, particularly for working parents and shift workers. Once a Gate City client has established with one of our clinicians, secure telehealth visits are available anywhere in Virginia, which lets us keep the rhythm of therapy and medication follow-ups going without the round trip every week.
