Marion is the seat of Smyth County, sitting along the Middle Fork of the Holston River in the long valley below Walker Mountain, where I-81 threads its way through the high country of Southwest Virginia. The historic Smyth County Courthouse anchors a walkable downtown that has been steadily reinvested in over the past decade, with the restored Lincoln Theatre as its centerpiece. Just north of town, Hungry Mother State Park draws families to its lake and trails year-round, and Marion is one of the closest jumping-off points for the Mt. Rogers National Recreation Area further south. The writer Sherwood Anderson edited two local newspapers here in the late 1920s and is buried at Round Hill Cemetery.

From Marion the trip to our Lebanon offices is a straight shot up Interstate 81 and across on Route 19, usually around fifty to sixty minutes depending on traffic at the Abingdon exits. Marion clients come to us for outpatient counseling, EMDR therapy for adults, teens, and children ages 7 and older, marriage and family work, and psychiatric medication management with our nurse practitioner at the East Main Office. For adults whose depression has not responded to standard medications, we also offer GeneSight® pharmacogenomic testing and Spravato® (esketamine) on-site.

We understand that the drive isn’t nothing, especially in winter. Once a Marion client has established care with one of our clinicians, secure telehealth visits are available anywhere in Virginia, so the work can continue between in-person sessions or on weeks when getting away from Smyth County isn’t practical.
