A streamlined referral process for medical providers, schools, and community agencies supporting our clients.

Pioneer Counseling Center values collaboration and communication with medical providers, schools, community agencies, and other professionals involved in supporting the well-being of our clients.

Our team provides outpatient counseling, psychiatric medication management, EMDR therapy, and specialized mental health services for children, teens, adults, couples, and families throughout Southwest Virginia.

We strive to make the referral process as smooth and efficient as possible while ensuring compassionate, high-quality care for every individual referred to our practice.

Referral Process

Three steps to get a patient started.

  1. 01

    Submit Referral

    Referrals may be faxed securely to:

    Referral Fax: (276) 880-0036

    Please include:

    • Client demographics
    • Insurance information
    • Reason for referral
    • Relevant clinical information (if applicable)
    • Copy of most recent office note
    • Copy of recent labs, if available
    • Patient’s current email address for portal access and intake paperwork

    Providing the patient’s email address helps expedite the intake process and allows our office to securely send portal access and required paperwork electronically.

  2. 02

    Patient Contact

    Once the referral is received, our office will contact the patient to provide access to the secure patient portal and begin the intake process.

  3. 03

    Insurance & Scheduling

    Our team will verify insurance benefits and obtain authorization if required prior to scheduling services.

Important Information

Before referring a patient.

  • Counseling services are available for children ages 7 and older, teens, adults, couples, and families.
  • Telehealth appointments may be available depending on clinical appropriateness and provider availability.
  • EMDR therapy services are available for adults, teens, and children ages 7 and older.
  • Our office does not provide crisis stabilization or emergency psychiatric services. For mental health emergencies, patients should call 911 or visit the nearest emergency department.
